Why Students?
Viva was founded by students over 30 years ago, and students continue to play a vital role in helping children and communities flourish around the world.
Whether you're passionate about justice, research, communications, theology, international development, fundraising, prayer or community action, there are opportunities to learn, contribute and grow alongside Viva's global network.
This page is for students interested in knowing how they can stand with at-risk children in prayer.
Praying for Viva
Prayer is at the heart of Viva
and we invite you to join a global community seeking God’s heart for children. There are many opportunities to pray together for – and with – children, and the churches supporting them.
Your student group could choose one of the networks that make up the Viva Network to support in prayer. Viva can provide you with information and connection to the Network so you can:
Commit to pray regularly for the network, its member churches and the children it serves (perhaps every time you meet as a group).
Organise occasional prayer gatherings – and invite a wider group of people.
Pray alongside action – e.g. fundraising or volunteering.
Would you like to join a global prayer movement?
Each year, Viva’s World Weekend of Prayer unites 100,000s of children and adults from across the world to pray for, and with, children.
This global prayer campaign takes place during the first weekend of June. You could run a prayer event in your church or university, or talk with leaders in a children’s group known to you to invite them to participate.
Just Love Partnership
We are really pleased to share that we have entered into a new partnership with Just Love, a Christian student movement in the UK, which is ‘a network of thousands pursuing justice in the way of Jesus - holistically, fruitfully, sustainably.’ For the past couple of years, Viva has run a training session at a Just Love conference for student committee leaders - exploring what it looks like to do justice well in practice.
