Child Engagement in World Weekend of Prayer Events – in action!

We have loved seeing how different partner networks and participating churches have engaged children in the lead-up to the World Weekend of Prayer. Enjoy these sample photographs and videos below - and if you want to share something to add to this page, please do email wwp@viva.org.

Thank you to everyone who is participating in planning for the World Weekend of Prayer!

In CarNetNepal, children spent time looking up places around the world and asked for prayer requests from different countries.

Children in CarNetNepal also learned simple actions for the phrase ‘He’s got the whole world in His hands’ to help them remember our theme.

At Elim Church in El Salvador, children have been preparing a video as they pray for other children around the world - and even had a film set!

At a Safe Space run by a partner church supported by CRANE in Uganda, children wrote prayer needs for children on a map of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Together for Children in Kenya utilised a training session with children’s leaders for an impromptu rendition of the song ‘He’s got the whole world in His hands’!

In a church in the UK, an inflatable globe has been ordered from an online shop so that children can see different countries around the world! Isabel, aged five, also did this fantastic picture.

We also loved getting this picture, drawn by Freddie, aged eight, from the UK, showing different parts of the world that are held in God’s hands.

How brilliant is the creativity of MCAN in Tanzania, as they made a Swahili version of the song ‘He’s got the whole world in His hands,’ particularly mentioning Tanzania!

We thank God for this lovely, decorated prayer request picture from the Hope Alive Club in Uganda, supported by CRANE.

Another idea shared by a UK church was for children to write the names of children they would like to pray for in a drawn hand, either their own or a big one on a large piece of paper, with a title Isaiah 49 v 16. Josh in the Philippines had a similar idea!

This video from MCAN, Tanzania, shows how they have used the World Weekend of Prayer to promote children’s rights in the past, with the platform for prayer maximised to also encourage better treatment for children, as explained by Lightness Lucas, aged 12.

RCMN in the Philippines also utilised World Weekend of Prayer preparations to provide a safe space for children to be heard and express themselves, in a session called: Child for Safety: Creating a Safe Community for Children.
