“As you may know, Hong Kong residents will soon be eligible to register for the HKD 10,000 cash handout from the government as early as 21 June 2020 and receive this by 8 July, 2020. For some, this money is an important lifeline in these challenging economic times and for others, this gift could be afforded to bless others who need it.
If you are in a position to bless others, we would like to ask you to prayerfully consider giving the full HKD 10,000 or a portion of it to support Viva’s work for vulnerable families.
Viva will be launching a Family Mentoring Programme that will be rolled out to 24 out of our 38 partner networks in which we aim to train 1,200 mentors to support at least 25,000 vulnerable children and parents during the lockdown.
Each mentor will support an average of 10 families a week through phone calls surrounding the six themes of:
1) COVID-19 awareness
2) Building strong relationships within the family
3) Mental health and resilience
4) Staying safe at home
5) Staying safe online and finally
6) Learning together every day.
We have raised HKD 100,750 and still need HKD 370,000 to fund this program! We hope you will consider donating in full or in part if you are in a position to do so and bless low-income families who are in need of not only financial but emotional support right now.
