Viva: Volunteers

Background

Viva was established in 1996 and has pioneered effective collaborative working amongst Christian projects and organisations serving children at risk. Today, Viva members are helping more than 1.8 million children. At a local level, we have over 70 networks representing 40 countries. Internationally, 80 Christian NGOs identify with our vision.

Proof reading/editing

From time to time Viva is in need of a fresh pair of eyes to review work that we are going to publish (eg training materials). Our needs vary in length and type of documents and the sort of of input required; so if you are an Editor, Copy Editor or Proof Reader we would love to hear from you. You may be in the publishing business currently or may just have an excellent eye for detail.

Prayer communications

Viva communications team, based in Oxford, is looking for a volunteer who can sift through news and information to pull out the most important items for a weekly round-up. This weekly news release is pivotal both to the way that news is communicated within the organisation, but also to the way that we seek answers to prayer for our most pressing challenges. The role will need someone who can express the key issues in language that is both accessible and moving. The email would then be distributed to our valued prayer supporters, keeping them up to date with the workings of our worldwide team.

Administrator/Receptionist

One of our valued staff members will be undergoing an operation (expected to be early September) and as a result will be away from the office for six weeks. If you can offer us a few hours each morning (or several) during this period we would be very grateful. A welcoming face and voice and familiarity with Microsoft Office would be needed along with a flexible approach to help our wherever support is needed.

Please get in touch, let us know what you can offer in skills and availability and we will get back to you to chat things through. In the first instance please contact Shelagh Windsor-Richards via hr@viva.org or telephone me on 01865 811679.
