The Christian community’s response to children at risk is a cause for celebration: in the many places around the globe where children are living in vulnerable situations you will inevitably find Christians working alongside them. Yet the statistics suggest that 50% of projects working with children at risk fail within the first two years of their existence.

Compassionate people with a desire for justice are a necessary ingredient for work with vulnerable children, but passion alone is not enough. To be truly effective we must also be practical. If we are to sustainably impact lives and shape futures we must recognise the need for properly trained staff, well structured authority, strategic long-term planning, and financial and organisational accountability.

Many dedicated Christian projects are fully aware of the dangers of unstructured and inexpert work, and are keen to grow and progress, but they do not have access to either training or resources. Viva Equip is designed to transform this situation. Our objective is to see well-resourced and properly equipped people focusing their passion on credible and sustainable solutions. We also recognise the need for strong and competent leaders, who are able to advocate on behalf of vulnerable children and provide direction and inspiration for those caring for them.
