This policy explains how we treat your personal information. It governs all pages hosted at www.viva.org. It does not apply to pages hosted by other organisations to which we may link and whose privacy policies may differ. This policy may change from time to time, so please check back periodically.
Information collected
We do not collect any personal information from visitors to our website other than information that is knowingly and voluntarily given. Cookies are not used. We do collect anonymous information, such as IP addresses, which pages are accessed, and the number of visitors to the website in a given period, but this is purely statistical and will not be used to identify individual users.
Use of data
The information you give us is kept so we can provide you with the services that best match your requirements and preferences. We will always respect your privacy, never providing your details to others for marketing purposes. We will occasionally send you information about our work, including events, appeals and feedback on how your donations have been used. Data protection
Credit card payments made via the internet on Viva's sites are processed through PayPal.
Viva will process credit card transactions that are not completed through our website by using PayPal’s virtual terminal software which eliminates the need to write down personal or card details. If you provide us with your card details in writing we will enter them online using PayPal’s virtual terminal software. Your details will be destroyed upon completion of the transaction. We will only process recurring donations by credit card through the online payment provider, where your card detials will be securly stored on their server.
Viva will always endeavour to protect your data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure, alteration or destruction. We are committed to investing in technology to provide security for your information.
Viva operates through a number of regional offices across the world and uses local payment options to complete credit card transactions wherever possible. As a result your data may be affected by local laws or rights of access. We will always request that our offices comply in protecting card information and ensure that this data is protected.
All Viva sites currently use PayPal except our North American site which uses Authorize.net
Checking your information
The Data Protection Act 1998 (UK) gives you rights concerning the way in which organisations store and use personal information about you. These rights include the right to request a copy of the information that Viva holds about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected. The Act also gives you other rights not explained here. Please visit the Information Commissioner's Office website at http://www.ico.gov.uk for further information. Requests for information can only be made by the individual concerned and are not free.
